LET’S HELP YOUR CHILD SPEAK WITH CONFIDENCE
Specializing in Family-Centered Speech Therapy
Our Unique Approach
At McKenzie Speech Therapy, we blend proven speech therapy techniques with fun games and kid-friendly activities. Your child will be excited to come to each session, and you will be delighted by their progress from week to week!
Our approach is different because we work closely with your family from the very beginning. You will always know what we’re doing in therapy, why we’re doing it, and where we’re headed.
You’ll also receive video models, hands-on training, and a clear homework program to help your child speak more clearly within weeks (not years!)— because when you’re confident about supporting your child’s communication, they’ll grow every single day, not just during speech therapy sessions.

Is your child difficult to understand? We can help them speak more clearly by mastering their speech sounds! Our playful speech therapy sessions are designed to teach your child exactly how to produce sounds accurately and give them lots of chances to practice.
Speech therapy will help your child:
Move their lips, tongue, and jaw to make age-appropriate speech sounds clearly
Use speech sounds in words, sentences, and conversation
Hear and fix their own speech sound errors
Speak confidently at home and school
We also integrate early literacy skills into our speech therapy sessions, such as rhyming and letter-sound awareness.

The /r/ sound is one of the trickiest sounds for kids to master, and many need specialized help to get it right. If your child’s /r/ sounds more like a “w,” “l,” or vowel sound, we can help! Our proven approach breaks the /r/ down into simple steps and gives your child the skills they need to produce it correctly.
Speech therapy will help your child:
Position their tongue to make a strong and accurate /r/ sound
Hear the difference between a true /r/ and an incorrect /r/
Understand and produce the different types of /r/
Self-correct their own errors
Speak confidently in social and academic situations
-
For children with apraxia, speaking takes extra effort because the brain and speech muscles have trouble working together. That’s why we break speech down into small, achievable steps— helping your child learn the motor movements needed to speak clearly using visual, verbal, and tactile cues.
Speech therapy will help your child:
Speak more clearly
Strengthen coordination between the brain and mouth muscles
Consistently produce sounds and words with accuracy
Communicate more easily with family and friends
Reduce frustration during everyday speaking
-
For children with hearing loss using hearing aids or cochlear implants, speech therapy focuses on building strong listening and spoken language skills. We use fun listening activities, books, and crafts to help your child tune in, process sounds, and communicate confidently.
Speech therapy will help your child:
Increase listening accuracy and attention
Develop clearer spoken language
Interact socially with more success
Expand vocabulary
Gain confidence and independence
Parents will also learn strategies they can use every day to support their child’s listening and speaking.
-
Stuttering therapy focuses on helping your child feel confident when they speak, whether their speech is bumpy or smooth. Using playful activities, we reduce the fear around stuttering and build skills that help your child communicate with greater ease.
Stuttering therapy will help your child:
Understand what stuttering is and why it happens
Normalize stuttering and reduce fear around talking
Use strategies that support smoother speech
Advocate for their needs in real-life situations
Communicate comfortably with friends and family
Feel safe to express feelings about stuttering
MEET YOUR SPEECH THERAPIST
Rebekah McKenzie, M.A., CCC-SLP
I’m a speech therapist with over 16 years of experience helping children speak with clarity and confidence. I love watching kids light up as new sounds click into place, and it’s an honor to walk alongside families as their kids discover what they’re capable of!
At McKenzie Speech Therapy, I partner with parents to create quick, lasting progress. After every session, you’ll receive a simple video walkthrough of what we practiced, the cues I used, and easy ways to carry those skills into your daily life. You’ll always know exactly what we worked on and how you can practice the same skills at home!
Most importantly, I keep speech therapy upbeat, playful, and encouraging, so your child feels proud of their progress and excited to come to their sessions each week. Nothing makes me happier than watching a child gain a new skill they’ve worked hard for, and I’m honored to support families through every step of that journey!
